Archetypes
featuring Christopher Vogler
Find out what the Hero, Mentor, Threshold Guardian, Shapeshifter and Shadow all have in common and how their themes run through your life, psyche, and most major story lines.
Our show brings to light the secrets of great writing in an easy to understand, instantaneously applicable way. You see, no matter what era or locale a story takes place in, most have a distinct, underlying mythic framework that mythologist, Joseph Campbell coined “The Hero’s Journey.” If you look closely into every great written work, from Greek Mythology to Sci-Fi, you’ll usually find a hero’s journey; whereby a person is called upon by fate to leave the safety of the ‘established’ and venture out into the unknown. Story analyst, Chris Vogler explains the fundamental elements underlying all good storytelling, as well as, creating realistic characters, directing plot points and avoiding the problems and pitfalls. On a personal level, understanding the stages of this “journey” gives you a roadmap for dealing with your own life’s changes and transitions.
So, if you ever have dreamed of writing your own story, script or the next great novel, but don’t know where to begin, tune in to Straight from the Heart’s: “The Writer’s Journey”
Within all of our psyches, there reside a common cast of characters that we see reflected around us in the movies we watch, the books we read, our dreams and fantasies. Chris Vogler believes that “for the storyteller, knowing character archetypes are indispensable tools of the trade. You can’t tell stories without them.” In our show, Chris and Sheri discuss the archetypes that occur most frequently in our stories, dreams and mythology and that are most useful for a writer to understand. You’ll learn about:
- What an archetype is.
- What you have in common with the Hero, Mentor,
Threshold Guardian, Shape shifter & Shadow - Archetypes and how these archetypes are relevant
to your life. - The psychological function and part of our
personality each archetype represents. - Applying Archetypes to your story lines.
By understanding archetypes, you’ll have a deeper understanding of your own psyche and the universal themes that run through all of our lives.

Comfort for Your Mind, Body and Spirit
featuring Patricia Alexander & Michael Burgos
Stressed out? Simple and instant things that you can do to soothe, cheer and bring more comfort into your life starting today.

Coping with Anxiety and Stress
featuring Nathaniel Branden, Ph.D.
Anxiety, stress and worry are all afflictions of life in the modern world. Using techniques from the field of energy medicine and psychology you can learn important actions that you can take to overcome the symptoms of anxiety and stress right NOW.
Why do I always fall for Ms./Mr. Wrong?
Why do my relationships never work out?
Why do I sabatoge a relationship when it starts feeling too good?
Why do I feel that my relationship is a project that I must continually struggle to make work?
The answer to the above questions is low self-esteem. There is no greater barrier to romantic happiness or a fulfilling relationship than the secret fear that I am undeserving of love….or that…my destiny is to be hurt. Fears of inadequacy give birth to self fulfilling prophecies because we tend to see other people as sources of approval or disapproval. To quote my guest, Nathaniel Branden, “If the aim is to prove that I am enough the project goes on to infinity because the battle was already lost on the day you conceded the issue was debatable.” Nothing we do ever feels like enough to give us the value we seek. It’s time to turn the illusion (yes, illusion!) of deficiency into knowing our own worth and value. What is required for many of us is the courage to tolerate happiness without self-sabotage. Find out how!
Romantic love is a passionate- spiritual- emotional -sexual attachment between two people that reflects a high regard for the value of each person. Fascination, attraction, and passion may be born “at first sight.” Love is not. Love requires knowledge, time and consciously, directed awareness. On our show, Dr. Nathaniel Branden and Sheri discuss the conditions in which love grows and the reasons why love dies. Contrary to the cliché that ‘love is blind’, love blossoms in an atmosphere of mutual respect and acceptance as well as through remaining actively visible (not blind) to each other. Whatever stage your relationship is in, this show can help you to better understand …
- How to stay connected to those qualities you value and desire in your partner.
- Why romantic love is for adults and not children.
- Surefire communicate techniques which diffuse anger and help you quickly get back to love.
- What relationship ruts are really all about.
- Ways to juice up an undernourished relationship.
In a relationship where romantic love is nourished, it can be a pathway to extraordinary joy and profound discovery. In a relationship that is starving in silence and visibility, there can be excruciating suffering. Which sounds better to you? Tune in and find out what it takes to truly make a loving relationship flourish.
The Psychology of Romantic Love
Being in love is perhaps the greatest experience a person can have. When you first fall in love, the world seems better, brighter, lighter. Everything the object of your love does is magic….at first. However, once the initial wonder dies and reality sets in, you find this heavenly person is really only human. What then?
In “The Psychology of Romantic Love”, Dr. Sheri Meyers and her guest, Dr. Nathaniel Branden, explore the essence of love and explain the keys to keeping love alive, through the years.
On this show you’ll learn….
- What romantic love is and isn’t.
- The secrets to long-term happiness.
- How to keep close when you feel oceans apart.
- How to rekindle a fading flame.
Love, passionate love, is a gift.
However, it must be cultivated, if it is to last. Let “Straight from the Heart” give you the tools to take the relationship you have and turn it into the love that you want to last a lifetime.
Coping with Anxiety and Stress
Anxiety, stress and worry are all afflictions of life in the modern world. Using techniques from the field of energy medicine and psychology you can learn important actions that you can take to overcome the symptoms of anxiety and stress right NOW.
You are a gift.
You are special.
You are a blessing.
When you read these words, how do you feel?
Do you accept these words as true, or does something get in the way?
Many of us have a lot of trouble accepting compliments and praise because deep down we don’t feel like we deserve it. This feeling of unworthiness is one of the more blatant symptoms of low self-esteem. In fact, nearly every psychological problem — from anxiety and depression to self-sabotage at work or at school, from fear of intimacy to chronic hostility — is traceable to low self-esteem.
In “How to Raise Your Self Esteem” Sheri Meyers and Dr. Nathaniel Branden explain the fundamentals of building a healthy sense of self. This is not simply a collection of affirmations, in this show, you will be given tools and exercises to help you begin building your self-esteem today.
Higher self-esteem is the single greatest gift you can give yourself. By saying yes to self-esteem, you open to a world of confidence, grace, strength and a greater overall feeling of well-being. YOU DESERVE IT!

His most recent books include: “The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem” “Taking Responsibility”, “The Art of Living Consciously“, “How to Raise Your Self Esteem”, “HonoringThe Self “ and “The Psychology of Romantic Love”. In addition to his numerous books, Dr. Branden also has a newly released set of CD’s to help with anxiety, sleep problems and stress.
, a practicing psychotherapist in Los Angeles, has written 20 books which have been translated into 18 languages, with more than 3.5 million copies in print. The name
has become synonymous with “the psychology of self-esteem,” a field he began pioneering over thirty years ago. Male and female brains are different and men and women need to learn how to navigate through the gender differences in the brain. The dance of relationships is both chemically and environmentally driven. Understanding the ingredients of the dance will make you a more effective lover and partner.

- The primary chemicals involved in attraction, love, and commitment
- Ways to make your love unforgettable.

One out of every two families in the U.S. has a member with Alzheimer’s Disease. The scary news is that by age 85, there is a 50 percent chance that you will develop AD. But the good news is that you can start now to delay the symptoms from ever becoming problematic. Many of us believe that having memory problems naturally go along with normal aging. NEW INSIGHTS INTO ADD
“Core symptoms common to those who have ADD include: short attention span for routine tasks, distractibility, organizational problems (space and time), difficulty with follow through, and poor internal supervision. These symptoms exist over a prolonged period of time and are present from an early age.” Daniel Amen, M.D.
An estimated 17 million people in the U.S. have ADD. It is the single most common learning and behavioral problem in children and as doctors are discovering, it is a common problem in adulthood, leading to underachievement, loneliness and a myriad of other problems. ADD is an hereditary condition that runs in families. ADD affects many areas of the brain, primarily the prefrontal cortex (the brain’s controller of concentration, attention span, judgment, organization, planning and impulse control), the temporal lobes (where the brain houses memory and experience) and the deep limbic system (the brain’s mood control center).
Based on what Dr. Amen discovered while doing thousands of brain imaging scans, there are six types of ADD, not just the three currently believed. Knowing what type of ADD you or your child has is critical to establishing and maintaining an effective treatment program.
Here is a brief overview of the six types of ADD:
- Type 1: Classic ADD
Sufferers are inattentive, distractible, disorganized, hyperactive, restless, and impulsive. - Type 2: Inattentive ADD
Sufferers are inattentive, sluggish, slow-moving, have low motivation, and are often described as space cadets, daydreamers or couch potatoes. - Type 3: Overfocused ADD
Sufferers have trouble shifting attention; frequently get stuck in loops of negative thoughts or behaviors; are obsessive; worry excessively; are inflexible; frequently behave oppositionally and argumentatively. - Type 4: Temporal Lobe ADD
Sufferers are inattentive, irritable; aggressive; have dark thoughts, mood instability, and are severely impulsive. - Type 5: Limbic ADD
Sufferers are inattentive, experience chronic low-grade depression, are negative, have low energy, and have frequent feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness. - Type 6: ‘Ring of Fire’ ADD
Sufferers are inattentive, extremely distractible, angry, irritable, overly sensitive to the environment, hyperverbal, extremely oppositional, and experience cyclic moodiness.
There are many healing options in addition to medication to be aware of and numerous resources available that can help you or a loved one deal with ADD. Watching this 30 minute program is a great start.

PREVENTING ALZHEIMERS
“ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE BEGINS AN AVERAGE OF 30 YEARS BEFORE THE FIRST SYMPTOMS. IT IS NEVER TOO EARLY TO START PREVENTING THIS DEVASTATING DISEASE. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THROUGH PREVENTION STRATEGIES, YOU MAY BE ABLE TO DELAY THE ONSET OF AD LONG ENOUGH SO THAT YOU WILL NEVER HAVE SYMPTOMS.” DANIEL AMEN, M.D.
This is not true. The truth is when your brain works right, you work right. Taking good care of yourself and your brain’s health is critical no matter how old you are.
On our show you’ll learn about….
- What Alzheimer’s Disease is.
- Signs and symptoms of early, mid and late Alzheimers.
- Knowing and reducing your risk factors.
- Obtaining an accurate, prompt diagnosis.
- The difference between a MRI, Pet and SPECT scan.

- Choosing the most effective treatment. When is the right time to use medicine.
Prevention and early treatment are the keys to reducing your risk. Let “Straight from the Heart’s ‘Preventing Alzheimer’s’ ” show you how to recognize and reduce YOUR risk.

“THE SPIRITUAL LAWS OF YOGA”
According to Indian philosophy, yoga is the system of gaining knowledge through direct experience. Yoga is a way to cultivate an inner state of centered awareness that cannot be disturbed by the inevitable turmoil in life. By tuning in to the sensations of your body, you can understand the workings of your physiology. By listening to your inner dialogue, you can understand the nature of the mind. By going beyond your body and your mind, you can directly experience your spiritual core.
On our show, Deepak and I discuss the benefits of yoga and what makes it a spiritual practice. In addition, you’ll learn specific ways to apply the ‘Seven Spiritual Laws’ not only to your yoga practice but also to your life. Here are some highlights:
- The Law of Pure Potentiality: At your core of your being you are pure awareness. This realm of pure awareness is the domain of all possibility. This space is cultivated in silence and the quiet spaces between our thoughts. Use the So-Hum Meditation practice to calm your turbulent mind.
- The Law of Giving and Receiving: The breath is the link between mind, body and spirit. When your life force is flowing freely, you are in natural alignment with generosity and receptivity. Learning to regulate your breath is a powerful technique of yoga.
- The Law of Karma: As we sow, so we reap. When you consciously choose actions that bring happiness and success to yourself and others, you reap the benefits.
- The Law of Least Effort: Do less to accomplish more. Yoga is the antidote to “no pain, no gain.” The more you accept the way things are and stop struggling against the moment, the easier life becomes. A yoga posture is demonstrated and a mantra given to help you achieve this.
- The Law of Intention and Desire: Your intentions have organizing power. If you want something to grow stronger in your life, direct more attention to it.
- The Law of Detachment: Learning to be open to what is happening rather than trying to control how things unfold. Enjoying the process and letting go of outcome. A yoga posture is shown which demonstrates how detachment and flexibility go hand in hand.
- The Law of Dharma: We were all born with a sacred purpose and unique talents. When obstacles to the flow of your vital energy are removed, you become capable of expressing more expanded aspects of yourself.
Yoga serves and nourishes us at every level of our being and spontaneously contributes to greater well being in all domains of life. Tune in to hear the wonderful Dr. Deepak Chopra share his wisdom, insights and practical applications to healing your mind, body and spirit.

How To Raise Your Self-Esteem
featuring Nathaniel Branden, Ph.D.
What you think, believe and tell yourself greatly influences how you feel and behave in life. Self-esteem, high or low, tends to be a generator of self fulfilling prophecies. Learn six action-based practices which can help you expand your capacity for success, happiness and love.

“POSITIVE PERSUASION”
It’s Time to Launch Brand YOU!
According to my guest, Joel Bauer, ” our first point of contact, is our first point of impact.” Within the first 4 seconds of meeting someone, we are often judged by our wrapping and not our content. When you say, ‘here I am!’ what do they see? How you personally ‘brand’ yourself is what makes you memorable or forgetable. Your brand is a representation of you. The good news is that everyone can have a personal brand. It’s time to think about the tools you use. How you dress, your business card, how you communicate and what you leave behind.
On our show, we talk about the 3P’s of getting everything you want…how to present yourself, persuade others, and preserve the new relationships you are wanting to build. You’ll learn practical, strategic, and original methodologies that can help you…
- Be dynamic and distinct in your presentation
- Overcome resistance in the first 4 seconds
- Draw in your listener
- Look the part
- Use metaphors to make your point
- Use the power of leaving a free gift
- Conquer your fear of attention
Everyone can have a sense of brand. It’s time to define yours. Learn simple techniques to make others more receptive to saying YES! to you.
Joel Bauer is a professional corporate pitchman whose career rests on his ability to persuade. Joel, according to The Wall Street Journal Online, is “undoubtedly the chairman of the board” of corporate tradeshow rainmaking. Twenty million people have experienced Joel’s traffic-stopping presentations for organizations such as 3M, Canon, General Motors, IBM, Intel, Mitsubishi, Motorola, Panasonic, and Philips. “SENSUOUS MEDITATION”
Meditation isn’t just a time out, it’s a time in. It is an opportunity to come home to your body, to your own nature, and to the richess of your senses. And, the good news is that it doesn’t have to take hours. It can be acheived in moments, by cultivating a sense of pleasure in doing what you already love to do.
According to my guests, Camille Maurine and Lorin Roche, meditation is the practice of falling in love with life. In love, we pay attention with heightened appreciation. We are open to experience and our heart is moved. There are many instictive moments in life that border on meditation and can serve as gateways to that state: sitting in a comfortable chair, snuggling in bed, gazing at the horizon, being at the beach feeling the breeze and smelling the ocean, a warm bath by candlelight, taking a walk, praying, inhaling the smell of delicious food, drinking a cup of coffee, making love, waking up after a good night’s sleep. These moments can become meditative practices that help you to stay tuned into your true self and deepest values.
On our show you’ll learn about:
- What to do when you are hit with a barrage of emotions and thoughts.
- How to get over the hurdle of not enough time.
- Meditation as a gateway to enhancing your sensuous pleasure.
- Movements that release excess energy and help you to pay attention to the pulsation of your own life force.
- A quick way to enhance your vitality and strengthen your boundaries.
- An exercise to open and warm your heart.
It is possible to make your life much more sensuous and alive every moment of the day. Tune into “Sensuous Meditation” to learn how to make your life better 24/7.

“THE ART OF HAPPINESS”
Are you happy? Are you really happy?
R esearch studies reveal that fifteen million Americans are clinically depressed. To ease our pain, we disengage further from ourselves by turning to a multitude of quick fixes. Many of us have been taught that going from the ‘outside-in’ is the formula for happiness…. such as getting the right job, the right home, and/or the right relationship. Unfortunately, anytime we define ourselves by what we have, what we possess, or what’s on the outside, we’re going to be in for a lot of disappointment, pain and let down because we soon find ourselves governed by these symbols and images rather than living authentically from our innermost desires and essence.
To live a soul-driven, authentic life you must challenge your punitive, limiting thoughts, conditioned behaviors, and disempowering emotional patterns that hold you back from being all that you can be. Believe it or not, happiness, just like pain, is a choice. It is often tempting to assume that circumstances dictate attitudes however, history repeatedly reveals that attitudes are chosen and that people who choose an expansive point of view will triumph in even the most oppressive situations.
This show is about how to engage your soul’s participation in creating a more rewarding life. In order to find a true sense of connection and happiness, you need to look beyond the limitations you’ve created and celebrate who you truly are inside.
Attitude is a choice.

“SEX ON THE BRAIN” & “DATING ON THE BRAIN”
DANIEL AMEN, M.D.
The path to genuine intimacy is not body to body, but rather brain to brain. We are looking for love in all the wrong places! Understanding the connection between brain and sex can give you a huge advantage both in and out of the bedroom.
Great sex is all about blood flow to your brain and genitals. Anything that decreases blood flow, diminishes brain health and sexuality. Increasing blood flow is the fountain of youth for sex and your brain. There are many great health benefits to having a healthy sex life including pain control, longevity, and a decreased risk for heart disease.
Male and female brains are different and men and women need to learn how to navigate through the gender differences in the brain. The dance of relationships is both chemically and environmentally driven. Understanding the ingredients of the dance will make you a more effective lover and partner.
On our show you’ll learn about….
- Before you give your heart away, use your brain. Discover the warning signs to look for before you get involved.
- The primary chemicals involved in attraction, love, and commitment
- Ways to make your love unforgettable.
- Getting your partner’s heart rate up, increases interest.
- Aphrodisiacs and sexy scents that increase libido for men and women.
- Sexual novelty and a little edge can boost lasting love.
- A good foot rub is one of the most effective forms of foreplay. The area of the brain that senses the foot is next door to the area that feels the genitals.
Understanding the brain differences and how to train your lover to please you sexually is an important goal for your overall health, longevity, and pleasure..

THE BRAIN SOUL CONNECTION
“The brain is the soul’s fragile dwelling place.”
William Shakespeare
Do you, or someone you love, suffer from anxiety, depression, obsession, anger, substance abuse or attention deficit disorder? How your brain functions impacts your behavior, feelings, life choices and spirituality. When your brain is not functioning optimally, any number of emotional and physical conditions can occur. “ENERGY VAMPIRES & OTHER LIFE DRAINERS”
Each of us radiates a palpable energy. Whenever we interact with another, an exchange occurs. Some people give off positive energy, others negative. Some people bring an unexpected lightness and comfort to your life. You feel uplifted, energized, and safe in their presence. It’s not what they do or say, but how refreshing it feels to be around them. Then, there are people in whose company you are left feeling stressed out, exhausted, guilty, or run down. These people, my guest, Dr. Judith Orloff, calls energy vampires. These life-force leechers range from the intentionally malicious to those who are oblivious of their effect. Obnoxious or meek, they come in all forms. Energy vampires can be neighbors, co-workers, telemarketers, bosses, parents, mates, in-laws or acquaintances. It is important to notice how your energy responds to particular people and situations.
Have you encountered an energy vampire? Take this test:
- Does my chest tighten every time a certain person enters the conversation?
- Do I run to the refrigerator and stuff myself after an interaction?
- Do I need a nap after hanging up on the phone with someone?
- Do I have a headache, feel queasy, or slimed when a guest at a party starts talking to me?
- Does my energy bottom-out at family dinners? At staff meetings? Or other social gatherings?
- Do I feel attacked, criticized or blamed in a relationship?
- Is a person so needy or clinging she/he seems to stick to me like flypaper?
Are you tired of being drained?
On our show we discuss the common types of energy vampires and what you can about them starting right now.

From Longing to Belonging
featuring Arthur Jeon
Most people treat love as a noun, as a ‘thing’ that can be felt, bartered, given, withheld, sought after, attained and lost from a ‘love supplier.’ This leaves us yearning for love outside ourselves. But our true nature is love. By treating love as a verb, we stop seeking it, and learn to BE it.

“SEX, LOVE, & DHARMA”
Many people treat love as a noun, as a thing’ that can be felt, bartered, given, withheld, sought after, attained and lost from a ‘love supplier’ outside ourselves. This kind of loving is fraught with expectations in which we are always looking to get love, as if were a precious and limited commodity. Driven by lonliness and a sense of lack we walk around like addicts, looking to be ‘hooked’ up to this incredible drug called love.
It’s hard to sustain a long-term relationship if we are looking outside ourselves for love. Most of the decisions we make are based on a cocktail of fear, desire, lonliness and projection. (all which are a result of our conditioning). When we are operating out of our conditioning, we often end up with someone we don’t even like, yet alone love.
How do we find our true love without losing our way? How do we rise to love after falling into it?
Our true nature is love. It is not about seeking it, but being it. Everything changes when we treat love as a verb in our lives. To be loving and in loving relationship with the world around and within us. When we understand that the currency of love is available all the time, supporting everything we do, every single moment is an opportunity to give love, and tap into the flow of it.
We all long connect to someone in union. To love and be loved.
The bottom line is when we change how we love in the world, we pull in a different kind of partnership. Tune in to Straight from the Heart’s “From Longing to Belonging” to find out how.

Illuminating Your Shadow
featuring Connie Zweig, Ph.D.
Your shadow is your blind spot, the parts of yourself that you cannot see. Often where your buttons are getting pushed is your shadow calling. That’s why our relationships are the greatest mirrors in which we project and see our shadows reflected. Many of the repetitive fights we have with our partner has more to do with our disowned shadow than we may realize. When you can reexamine relationships from romance to marriage in the context of the shadow’s hidden needs, you can move from shadow-boxing with the Other to shadow-dancing with the Beloved.

“ILLUMINATING YOUR SHADOW”
Have you ever been attracted to or stayed too long with someone that you knew wasn’t a good match for you but there was something drawing you to that person that was so alluring, so mysterious that you couldn’t resist the connection?
According to my guest, Dr. Connie Zweig, your shadow is behind the scenes arranging your dating dance card and maybe even your marriage. So, what is the shadow you may ask. It’s our blind spot, the parts of ourselves that we cannot see, all those parts that we say, “oh no, that’s not me!” These parts of us that are sliced off want to be included. We may find ourselves attracted to them in someone else. Our relationships are the greatest mirrors in which we project and see our shadows reflected. Many of the repetitive fights we have with our partner where we believe “if only they would change, then I’d be happy,” has more to do with our disowned shadow than we may realize. Often where your buttons are getting pushed is your shadow calling. This is a great opportunity to look at your own stuff instead of blaming the ‘Other.’ As you make your shadow more conscious, you can then stop projecting it onto your partner and rejecting them for it.
Tune in to “Straight from the Heart” to learn how to make your shadow more conscious. Remember, what you don’t own, owns you. Wholeness and healing comes from accepting all the parts of yourself. When you can reexamine relationships from romance to marriage in the context of the shadow’s hidden needs, eventually you can move from shadow-boxing with the Other to shadow-dancing with the Beloved.

- The Common Reasons Why We Don’t Forgive

Conflict occurs in all close relationships. Simply defined, a conflict is a difference in what two people need, want or think. Since we are different from each other, it is inevitable that any two people will come into conflict.
Everybody wants to love. Our heart’s desire is to love and feel loved. Yet, why, so often do we feel isolated, disconnected, separate, alone, fragmented, unloved and unlovable? The answer is fear. Fear is what keeps us from experiencing the potential for limitless love that we all have.
In “Living Love, Releasing Fear,” Sheri Meyers and Dr. Gerald Jampolsky, explore love and the things that increase and decrease it’s presence in our lives. In our show you’ll discover:
- How to heighten our awareness of love.
- The secrets to being unconditionally loving.
- The Law of Guilt
- How shame and blame sabotages our ability to love.
- How to move through the constraints of our fear.
- The moment to moment choice between pain and
peace.
Love is the natural state of our being. Our ability to love is the greatest gift we are given. It is we, and we alone, who stand in the way of our happiness and joy. There is no problem that love is not the answer to. Let “Straight from the Heart” help you find that answer.

Old traumas don’t die and they don’t fade away either. The past lives on in everything you think, feel, say, and do.
Most of us have a backlog of unprocessed, painful memories that we have tucked away in the recesses of our minds. You know, those painful wounds (feeling ignored, belittled, rejected, traumatized, abandoned, unloved) that you just don’t want to deal with. We want to believe that the “past is the past, let bygones be bygones.” Unfortunately, our unhealed, buried “stuff” clogs the arteries of our spirits and keeps resurrecting in our relationships and life choices until healed. The forgotten past may also contain some treasures waiting to be unearthed…. perhaps your passion, your curiosity and innocence, a lost trait or interest, that are waiting to be recaptured.
See if your PAST is controlling YOUR life. Take this simple test:
Do you….
- Harbor guilt, gripes, or grudges from past relationship?.
- Feel plagued by thoughts like “If only I had…” or “I wish I didn’t….”?
- Think “Oh no, not again!” when personal problems arise?
- Are you afraid of rejection, disapproval, or abandonment?
- Feel ashamed of things you’ve done?
- Wish you could apologize to someone you’ve wronged and be forgiven?
- Feel victimized by past experiences?
- Wonder why life hasn’t turned out the way you wanted?
- Feel anxious or depressed about your future?
- Seem to be less happy as time goes by?
If you answered yes to even one of these questions, you’ve come to the right place. There are specific things you can do to heal the pain of your past and create a vibrant, full life for yourself. Learn how to give to yourself a present of your presence. Watch “Healing Your Past” as Dr. Harold Bloomfield and Sheri Gantman discuss the essential steps you need to take to heal the past and create a more optimal future. “LOVING WITHOUT FEAR”
When it comes to loving, what do you really trust…love or fear?
Read the following statements and see which inner driver guides your love choices.
Fear tells you to constrict, protect, and hide your true self to stay safe.
Love tells you to open up and shine.
Fear judges.
Love accepts.
Fear wants to know why.
Love wants to know how.
Fear wants to be wanted.
Love knows it is.
Many of us approach life and our relationships with fear in the driver’s seat, always bracing us for the worst. Our fears tells us to stay safe, hidden, and protected so that we don’t get hurt. On one hand, we say that we want to love passionately and freely yet, on the other hand, we are rarely satisfied with the love we have. On “Loving Without Fear” Sheri and her guest, Rhonda Britten, discuss how to stretch through the limitations of our fears into freedom and love. You’ll be given new skills that you can immediately apply including:

What is Real Love?
featuring Bruce Brander
We think about, talk about, dream about, and sing about love. We search for it, yearning, hoping, longing for lasting bliss. Yet, many of us have not learned how to make our love succeed. In order to grow better relationships we need to move to we-centered love and become sweeter, kinder, more giving people in our lives.

“WHAT IS REAL LOVE?”
An anthropologist studying the Hopi Indians once asked a tribesman why so many of their songs were about rain. The Hopi man answered, “Because rain is scarce.” Then he asked, “Isn’t that why so many of your songs are about love?”
We think about love, talk about love, dream about love, read about love, and yes, even sing about love. We search for it, yearning, hoping, longing for lasting bliss. We feel that love is OUT THERE somewhere and we just need to find the “right” person and then love will prevail. Yet, all too often, we end up frustrated and disillusioned when our experiences fall short of our hopes and intentions. Unfortunately, many of us have not learned how to make our love succeed.
According to my guest, Bruce Brander, the failure in most relationships is due to our getting stuck in a consumer stage of love also known as, the romantic stage of love. It is this kind of me-centered love ” I want, I need, therefore, I love” that fuels passions in the beginning but almost always guarantees failure over the long term.
To make lasting love grow we need to aim as high as possible in generosity, honesty, compassion and greater patience. As we become sweeter, kinder, more giving people in our lives, we will attract in and grow better relationships. When our relationships move to we-centered love, where the other’s welfare and happiness is as important as our own, safety, trust and REAL love flourish.
Remember: Romantic Love loves because. Higher love, loves although.
For several decades Bruce Brander has been an international journalist and independent scholar. He has worked on the staffs of newspaper in New Zealand and the U.S. and was a writer and editor for National Geographic. He is author of six books on travel and social philosophy. His latest book, “Love That Works: The Art and Science of Giving” has been a work in progress for over thirty years. According to Bruce, anyone can have successful and fullfilling love relationships by rising to higher levels of love.Bruce lives in Colorado Springs with his wife and their four children.

“KEEPING YOUR HEART ON”
How easy is it for you to have an honest sex talk with your partner?
For most people, discussing sexual problems and issues is very difficult. Honest sex talk occurs when people feel safe in expressing themselves. According to my guest, Jordan Paul, co-author of “Oral Sex: Talking and Listening Your Way to Passionate Intimacy” feeling fulfilled and safe flows from a heart connection and conversely, feeling dissatisfied and unsafe results from a heart disconnection. When we are heart connected we feel compassion and are open to learning. We empathize rather than judge and seek to listen and understand our partner. When we are disconnected from our hearts we feel cold, closed, angry, threatened, jealous. We may find ourselves lecturing instead of listening and trying to get the other person to change or worse, cutting off all conversation.
Heart disconnection hurts us, our partner and definitely our sex life. But, hold on, help is on the way.
When you realize that you and/or your relationship is off-center, a commitment to return to balance entails:
- 1. Recognizing that you are disconnected.
- 2. Learning to return to your heart.
- 3. Learning to clean up the messes that are created when you are off-center.
- 4. Learning to live from your center more of the time.
Our show is filled with active demonstrations to help you learn new verbal and heart centered skills for increasing your heart connection no matter what the issue. Successful communication about sex can lead you and your partner to greater sexual pleasure. This gives the term ‘oral sex’ a whole different meaning.

“PREVENTING ALZHEIMERS”
- The importance of diet, exercise, vitamins and new learning everyday.
- Choosing the most effective treatment. When is the right time to use medicine.
Prevention and early treatment are the keys to reducing your risk. Let “Straight from the Heart’s ‘Preventing Alzheimer’s’ ” show you how to recognize and reduce YOUR risk.

“NEW INSIGHTS INTO ADD”

“TRANSCENDENT SEX”
What could be better than sex?
How about lovemaking that sweeps people into new realities, producing altered states of consciousness a thousand times more powerful than the most earth-shattering orgasm!
Sex can be–is–much more than we ever imagined. Few people expect to encounter the Divine while making love, but it actually happens all the time. Probably one in every eight to twelve people will have a profound spiritual experience during sex at least once in their lives.
In a research project conducted by my guest, Dr. Jenny Wade, many lovers report that they have had spontaneous altered states that occur during lovemaking in which they seem to go beyond, or transcend, the boundaries of the natural world and the normal limitations of self. These happenings are so counter to normal experience that the vast majority of lovers interviewed said that they viewed them as spiritual encounters in which they tapped into divine forces.
Some of the transformational events reported were:
- Seeing visions. Experiencing waves of heat, energy and light.
- Feelings as though you are transported to other locations.
- Re-living past lives.
- Feeling as if you are dissolving into God.
- Being visited by gods and other avatars.
- Embodying spiritual forces, such as speaking in tongues.
Everybody has the potential to access other realities and spiritual experiences during sex.
On our show, we discuss a wide range of experiences that can happen, guidelines for how to respond when your partner is having a transcendent experience, what to do when disturbing things happen, and how these experiences can transform your life.
SPECIAL GUEST: Jenny Wade, Ph.D
.Jenny Wade Ph.D. is a developmental psychologist who specializes in researching naturally occurring altered states of consciousness. In her book, ” Transcendent Sex: When Lovemaking Opens the Veil” and on our show, Jenny discusses the results of extensive interviews she conducted with ordinary people who had unusual and profound transcendent, spiritual experiences in the course of making love. Her study shows that mystical experiences happen every day in the bedroom to a significant proportion of the population. Sacred Sex lives on.

“A DAY OF REST”
Overworked? Stressed out? Exhausted?
This seems to be the mantra for so many of us. As a culture, we have learned that action and accomplishment are better than rest and that doing something is better than doing nothing. But by constantly running at high speeds, we often times bypass the nourishment that would give us stamina, overlook the signposts that lead to deeper wisdom, miss the joy and love born of effortless delight. It seems we’ve become out of since with the necessary rhythm of life, the balance between effort and rest, doing and not doing. It is no surprise that every spiritual tradition has a Sabbath practice. It’s a universal reminder to reconnect with the sacred rhythm of rest that our bodies and spirit so desperately needs to renew.
Ask yourself, “how often do I take time to relax, nourish and joyfully experience delightful uselessness?” That is what the Sabbath is suppose to be about… a time to deliciously taste the fruits of your labor….to literally bite into that apple and let the juice run down your cheeks, make love, give thanks for the bounty of the earth, connect with family and friends, read beautiful poetry, and let the world fall away….if only for a day…. an afternoon….an hour. According to my guest, Wayne Muller, “the sabbath is a way of being in time where we remember who we are, what we know, and taste the gifts of spirit and eternity.”
The good news is you don’t have to go anywhere special, or buy or prepare anything. You can start small. You can start right now. In our show, Wayne and Sheri discuss:
- How to take Sabbath pauses throughout the day.
- Using the Sabbath to awaken your sensuality and sexuality.
- Creating a Sabbath table.
- The Sabbath box, putting your day to day world away.
- Simple acts of blessing which take an ordinary moment and make it sacred.
- Pampering your body and reconnecting with your inner self.
If you are interested in rejuvenating your heart and spirit and bringing a sense of calm back into your life, this show is a perfect primer for you.
SPECIAL GUEST: Wayne Muller is an ordained minister and therapist and founder of Bread for the Journey, an innovative organization serving families in need. A graduate of Harvard Divinity School, he runs the Institute for Engaged Spirituality. He is author of “Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal and Delight in Our Busy Lives.” A wonderful book on the topic our show was based on. In addition, Wayne has written three other books,“Learning to Pray” “Legacy of the Heart” and “How, Then, Shall We Live?” He lives in northern California.

“CHANTING”
I want you to try something. Take a deep breath and say, “haaaaaaaal laaaaaaaaaaaayluuuuuuuuuu
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.” Do it again. Now, one more time. Feel good? That’s chanting. Most of us equate chanting with monks or Yogi’s, however, any one can experience the life changing benefits of chanting.
Many have asked, “Why chant?” Chanting is one of the most instanteneously beneficial mental and emotional cleansers available. And, in addition to being a fun and highly focusing spiritual tool, it also provides the body with a ‘sonic massage’ alleviating tension and stress. And, it can be done, anytime, anywhere; in the car, in your home, at the park or in the shower.
So many of us say, “But I can’t sing!” This carryover of shame and fear that stifles your personal expression can be conquered. There are ways to begin to sing, chant and let your voice be heard.
In “Straight from the Heart’s “Chanting,” Robert Gass, author, musician, psychotherapist and long-time chanter shows us how to overcome those blocks that keep up from the full expression of our inner voice.
So, tune in, and allow the power of chant to cleanse and improve your life.

The overly critical mother-in law.

The bigoted uncle.
The father who continually comments on your weight and appearance.
The cousin who flaunts her money and status.
Ah yes. Family. You’ve got to love em, but, sometimes, certain family members, push our buttons and shake up our inner world. In fact, in a recent poll, over 75% of us report that we have at least one family member that gets on our nerves and 68% described family get-togethers as frustrating and/or an obligation they don’t enjoy. No matter who or what the source of discord, the result is the same: unpleasant interactions that literally sap our energy and often leave us cringing. Would you like to have fewer arguments and less tension around these difficult family members? If you prepare yourself, even a little bit, to feel healthy and relaxed prior to a family visit, it can dramatically change how you react to the predictable stressors at your family gatherings.
Dr. Len Felder and I did this show to help you learn clear cut things to say and do to make your family get-togethers and overall family relationships more harmonious for you than ever before.
On our show you’ll learn about….
- Why certain relatives push our buttons and shake up our world.
- The most common mistakes we make that actually increase family tension.
- Ways to improve Family Get-Togethers and Holiday Visits
- Setting boundaries using humor, detachment and love.
- When and how to change a family pattern you don’t like.
- Dealing with drug and alcohol addictions in the family.
- How to stay relaxed in situations that once made you cringe.
Your relative may still do what they have always done, but with your new understanding and use of some very practical and easy tools, you may be surprised at how many more gratifying moments you will be able to enjoy.

Letting Go
featuring Guy Finley
“To what we are connected, is by what we are directed.” We all have things we wish we weren’t carrying around such as regrets, worries, resentments, and fears. These emotions and the thoughts that stimulate them, compromise our happiness and peace of mind. The process of letting go begins by taking notice of what we are holding onto and becoming an ‘observer/investigator’ rather than a ‘justifier’ of them.
“LETTING GO”
Often a seemingly scary condition, whatever it may be, is not the real problem. Time after time, our fears are the result of our clinging to thoughts that limit us and not the outside world overwhelming us.
How do we develop a more fearless state, a more compassionate condition, an understanding of human beings that won’t let us betray ourselves or each other? The answer is not about being a different type of person, it’s about seeing the person that you are being. To be attentive to be present is difficult because we often get caught up in the habitual thoughts and feelings that we believe define us and are real. You can break free of unhappy thoughts and emotions by seeing that even though your feelings may feel real in the moment, you are not owned by them, nor they define the real you. You are only temporarily occupied. Self observation allows you to notice and understand the unseen forces that are at work within you, and takes you out of being overwhelmed, dominated or devastated by what you feel.
On our show you’ll learn about…
- Changing your relationship with fear.
- Discovering that it is okay to say “I’m through with you” to your fears and worries.
- Understanding that the limit of your present view is not the limit of your possibilities.
- Separating the facts from the fears.
- Saying ‘No” to a host of negative thoughts and feelings, can help you discover how you can turn any moment of darkness into a guiding light.
Our fears and negative thinking steals from us the creative energy we need to practically deal with the situation confronting us in the now. It’s time to pull back and ask yourself questions such as, “do I really need to be setting myself on fire right now?” ” Do I really need to be selling my soul to this person for his or her approval?” When we use our minds and spiritual awareness properly we can gain insight, separate facts from fiction, and understand ourselves better. Let our show “Letting Go”, show you how.

“MEDITATION MADE REAL EASY”
With all the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, we seem to miss out on actually enjoying it. It’s so easy to get swallowed up by all the appointments and planning and lose the present moment in favor of the future. So how do we bring our attention back? The answer is meditation. Meditation sharpens thinking, reduces stress, improves concentration, lowers blood pressure, and assists you in the fullest enjoyment of life.
Many of us believe that to reach a meditative state you are supposed to sit still, empty our mind and aspire to high spiritual ideals. This decision will impact the quality of your life, transforming the very fabric of your being and how you live each day. It becomes like a beacon from which all smaller decisions are made.
At its very highest, this ONE DECISION is a choice to become the most “you” you can be. It is the choice to pursue and receive MORE in life. More happiness, satisfaction, love, connection, fulfillment. It is an invitation to break your denial and to pierce the illusion that you are not worthy of a magnificent life, or that you want too much, or that you are not special enough or that you don’t have the time.
Making the decision to live a life of MORE changes what you do, how you think, and what you feel. It impacts what you say YES to and what you say NO to.
Making this simple, yet profound choice about the kind of life you want to live can lead you from a vaguely satisfying life to living a great one.Tune in and discover how to find and implement the ONE DECISION that is right for you.

The Roadmap to Forgiveness
We call this miracle, . Join Dr. Gerald Jampolsky and Sheri Meyers as they discuss the methods of forgiving ourselves and others so that we can let go of suffering and embrace peace of mind. Forgiving is good medicine. Growing evidence shows that people inclined to forgive themselves and others enjoy better mental and physical health than those who hold grudges. A heart weighed down by resentments of the past has little time to enjoy the present. While forgiveness is a continual process, you can learn the tools necessary to live and love now.
Come learn…
- The Common Reasons Why We Don’t Forgive
- Health Implications of Holding onto Anger
- Ways to Choose Love Over Fear and Peace over Conflict
- Tools to Release Judgment and Negative Thinking
- How to Begin to Choose Love Over Conflict
- PLUS* Dr. Sheri’s Roadmap 4 Change
It’s never too late to forgive. Why not start now? Let Straight from the Heart’s “Roadmap to Forgiveness” be the prescription you take to free yourself from the binds of the past.
